JOB DESCRIPTION: Applications Engineer (Apprentice/Intern)

Primary Function:
Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting a wide variety of customer quotation requests across
Flowserve’s portfolio of mechanical Seals. This role is involved with all customer facing activities related to the
order acquisition process including proposal development, specification and scope review, pricing and contract
analysis and coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Major Accountabilities:
1. Responsible for maintaining safe workplace and comply with Flowserve applicable Safety, Health and
Environment standards, policy, rules and procedures. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs)
and obey all safety requirements.
2. Report safety incidents, unsafe conditions and /or potential hazards.
3. Proactively maintain a high level of communication with Sales, Operations, and other functional teams in
order to provide a high quality of customer service.
4. Responsibility to proactively communicate proposal details and gain alignment from applicable sales
engineers and plant managers in order to ensure full transparency and accuracy for ultimate request
fulfillment.
5. Support to timely preparation of high quality and complex proposals within limitations requested by the
customer or manager using designated workload management tools and processes.
6. Assist/Support to manage and monitor the proposal throughout the entire cycle including updating and
maintaining designated quote management system, while analyzing performance to maximize hit-rate and
responsiveness.
7. Participate in all coordination efforts on applicable quotes while ensuring close collaboration and
communication throughout the cycle. Participate in discussions with sales, operations and other teams.
8. Participate/Assist in mechanical seal selections for the customer Change-Out, Retrofit, Upgrade proposals.
9. Support operations to coordinate with supply chain, pricing and other functions to ensure that proper pricing is
provided to customers, while maximizing profitability.
10. Support to minimize business risks by identifying areas commercial concern and mitigate accordingly.
11. Ensure clean order hand-offs occur on successful proposals and minimize potential errors.

Additional Responsibilities:
1. Check incoming repair items and ensure that correct drawings and references are available for the inspection.
2. Interact with company personnel, departments and others to gather, assemble, analyze and determine correct
responses to customer queries.
3. Participate in the Pure Safety Trainings program.

Preferred Experience/Skills:
1. English reading, writing and speaking required.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to work in a
collaborative team environment.
3. Arithmetic skills essential.
4. Preferably Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree or student.
5. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
6. Ability to lift up to 20kg required.
7. Use of PPE’s (Personal Protecting Equipment) required.
8. Some limited travel may be required.
